October 18, 2023 – The Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department and the Dalhart Police Department are beginning their Thanksgiving Food Drive by accepting donations. The Thanksgiving Food Drive is a community service initiative started in 2022 with the goal of serving families in need.
The agencies are accepting donations of food items such as stovetop stuffing, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, canned food, bagged potatoes, and rolls. Turkeys may be donated at the Lincoln Street Baptist Church located at 1019 Lincoln Street. All other food item donations may be dropped off at City Hall located at 205 Rock Island Avenue and the Dalhart Police Department building located at 202 Rock Island Avenue.
“Last year, we were able to feed over 120 families all because we banded together and donated during the holiday season. I believe we can do it again this year! Nobody should have to go without food, especially during the holiday season,” said Sergeant Erica Trevino of the Dalhart Police Department.
“With the holidays approaching fast we would like to assist those in need with items for Thanksgiving. Spreading kindness and helping others is what truly makes the holiday season special. Your efforts, along with the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department and the Dalhart Police Department, will bring joy and comfort to many families in need,” said Mario Garcia, Fire Chief of the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department.
Donations will be collected until November 10th, 2023. For more information, please contact the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department by phone at 806-244-5454 or the Dalhart Police Department by phone at 806-244-5546.
