August 24, 2023- The City of Dalhart has been awarded funding from the Texas Community Development Block Grant (TxCDBG) for the Downtown Revitalization Project. This project will replace sidewalks, curb and gutter, and make ADA accessibility improvements on both the east and west sides of the 300 block of Denrock Avenue. The grant awarded will fund replacement of the concrete walkway from 3rd Street to 4th Street, installation of curb and gutter, handicap accessible ramps at eight locations along the block, handicap accessible parking at two locations, as well as drainage.
“The City of Dalhart is excited to receive this grant funding. The project will allow us to make much needed improvements to our downtown infrastructure without putting the burden on our taxpayers. This signifies another major step towards downtown improvement efforts and allows the City to do so in a way that is fiscally responsible for our residents,” said Mayor Justin Moore.
The City of Dalhart intends to replicate the project on various blocks throughout the downtown area in future grant cycles. This Downtown Revitalization Project is intended to improve walkability and accessibility of downtown Dalhart and will allow for future growth and redevelopment of the area.
