Police Department
The Dalhart Police Department was established in 1902 and is located across the street from City Hall. The City of Dalhart Police Department is focused on building strong relationships with the community and providing a sense of security everyone deserves.
House Number Display
For your own safety we encourage you to have your house number displayed near your entrance door. Emergency responders, such as emergency medical services (EMS), police department (PD) or fire department need to identify your address quickly and a number painted on the driveway is difficult to see in the dark and not considered effective by emergency responders. We also encourage you to have your number displayed in the alley by your gate for utility maintenance.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Dalhart Police Department is to be guardians for the public we serve and enforcers of the law when called upon.
We will strive to protect and serve the citizens of Dalhart with professionalism, courage and faithful diligence so as not to weaken the bond and trust we have collectively developed.
As police officers with the Dalhart Police Department will hold the tenet "The police are the public and the public are the police" as the base of our working community relationship.
Vision Statement
As public servants it is our duty to safeguard individual rights, maintain order and prevent crime. Employing a positive community oriented policing service will forge a relationship of cooperation with the citizens we took an oath to "protect and serve."
We will strive to maintain a cooperative relationship with the community so that we may all lessen the impact of crime and increase a mutual respect and trust. A cooperative relationship with surrounding law enforcement agencies as well as departments within the City of Dalhart aids in the partnership our community demands of its law enforcement professionals.
